David Garza is an attorney in the private practice of law as a Mediator Arbitrator in Austin, Texas. Mr. Garza has been involved in mediation – arbitration since 1989. He has mediated cases in the areas of personal injury, workman’s compensation, employment, family law, and general civil litigation. Mr. Garza is bi-lingual and bi-cultural and has successfully mediated numerous cases in Spanish.

Mr. Garza is the President – Elect (2007-2008) for the Board of Directors of the Dispute Resolution Center of Austin, a Fellow at the UT Law School Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution, a member of the Association of Attorney Mediators, and a member of the State Bar of Texas ADR Section.

Mr. Garza has completed numerous training courses sponsored by the American Academy of Attorney Mediators, the American Arbitration Association, the Association of Attorney Mediators, the Better Business Bureau, and the Dispute Resolution Center of Austin.

Prior to going into the private practice of mediation-arbitration, Mr. Garza served in a judicial capacity in two arenas. He has served as a City of Austin Municipal Court Judge from 2003 – Present on a part-time basis, and served full-time from 1987 – 1992. He also served the State of Texas as an Administrative Law Judge for the State Office of Administrative Hearings (1992 – 1993).

Mr. Garza has served in several capacities for the State of Texas, Travis County, and the City of Austin. Most recently, he was the Director of Homeland Security for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Prior to that, he was Chief of the Foreign Prosecution Unit of the Office of the Texas Attorney General, an Assistant District Attorney for Travis County, where he served as the chief prosecutor for the 147th District Court, then as the Chief of the Public Integrity Unit, and as a prosecutor for the City of Austin.

Mr. Garza has been an attorney in private practice, concentrating in the areas of personal injury, workman’s compensation, family law, criminal law, and general civil litigation. He received his BA in Psychology from the University of Houston, his J. D. from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D. C., and his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
